Created on May 24, 2006, the Civil Aviation Syndicate is one of the most recent professional syndicates of the OGBL. The founding members were employees of Luxair, Cargolux, VLM-Airlines, DSV, Westair Luxembourg as well as public servants of the Airport Administration. The policy of liberalization and privatization was the trigger for the implementation of this professional syndicate. The newly created structures allowed a much more effective defense of interests in the sector, at national, European and international level.
The Civil Aviation Syndicate defends the interests of all employees in the aviation sector, which includes airlines, air cargo logistics companies, the airport operating company and the administration of air navigation.
The OGBL is a contractual partner within the framework of all existing collective bargaining agreements in the field of civil aviation in Luxembourg, namely at Luxair, Cargolux, Lux-Airport and DSV as well as the sectoral agreement for the handling sector.
The syndicate is managed by a syndicate leadership, elected every 5 years by the participants of the Syndicate Day. The Syndicate Day is composed of staff delegates and support persons. The supreme body of the professional syndicate is the statutory Syndicate Day. We are committed to all personnel working in the field of civil aviation: ground staff, cabin crew and air traffic controllers.
In order to be informed on European and international issues in the field of civil aviation, the professional syndicate is affiliated to the ETF (European Transport Workers’ Federation) and the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation).
The professional syndicate takes a public position whenever current events in the aviation sector require it.
